
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—Southern Maine Community College Athletics and its Hall of Fame Selection Committee named five to join an elite group of 50 individuals and two teams for their accomplishments both on the playing surface and in the College community. After careful consideration, the committee will enshrine Atencio Martin, Ryan Cloutier, Abigail Ramirez, Miranda Martin, and Matt Davis as its class of 2024.
Atencio Martin (Men’s Basketball)
A three-year member of the men’s basketball program (2013-15, 2018-19), Atencio Martin achieved both regional and national recognition as a two-time Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) First Team All-Conference and two-time United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) First Team All-American selection. Martin was voted YSCC Player of the Year in 2019 and was named to the YSCC Twin Decades Team, a collection of the most talented players since the inception of the conference. Martin captained the team for two seasons (2015, 19) and made USCAA national tournament appearances in the same years. He totaled 1194 career points (13.7 ppg) as a Seawolf, ranking 6th all-time, converting at an impressive 53.1 percent clip. The Hall of Fame forward grabbed 668 rebounds (5th all-time), and collected 175 assists and 115 steals. Following his time at SMCC, the Maine native signed a professional contract with BC Gyumri in Armenia.
Ryan Cloutier (Men’s Basketball)
A three-year member of the men’s basketball program (2016-19), Ryan Cloutier was voted a two-time YSCC All-Conference selection and a First Team USCAA All-American in 2019. Cloutier served as a co-captain in 2019 and was honored with the department’s Carrol Rines Sports Person of the Year award in the same year. He was crowned a YSCC champion in his first season and made two USCAA national tournament appearances in his tenure. The New Hampshire native secured 1205 career points (13.5 ppg), ranking him 5th all-time in scoring. The Hall of Fame wing recorded 395 rebounds, 186 assists, 100 steals, and 74 total blocks (4th all-time) spanning 89 games played.
Abigail Ramirez (Women’s Basketball)
A two-year member of the women’s basketball program (2017-19), Abigail Ramirez was voted a First Team All-Conference selection and was named an All-American in both seasons. Ramirez served as a team captain in 2019 and made a USCAA national tournament appearance in the same year. The Hall of Fame point guard holds the program record for career steals (174) and ranks 2nd all-time in assists (274) — averaging 5.0/g. Ramirez totaled 581 career points (10.6/g) and pulled down 363 rebounds. Following her time at SMCC, the Maine native continued her playing career at the University of Southern Maine.
Meranda Martin (Softball)
A two-year member of the softball program (2017-19), Meranda Martin was both an elite hitter and pitcher for the Seawolves. Martin received YSCC All-Conference and USCAA All-American accolades in both seasons she played, and earned USCAA Academic All-American status in 2019. She led all USCAA players in stolen bases in 2018 (44) and was voted both YSCC Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year as a team captain in 2019. In addition, Martin was named to the YSCC Twin Decades Team. The Hall of Fame outfielder, accumulated 95 hits (4th all-time), 95 runs (2nd all-time), and 77 stolen bases (1st all-time). Martin amassed a .503 batting average and .577 on-base percentage spanning 189 at-bats. As a pitcher, Martin racked up seven wins in 11 games started; she collected 67 strikeouts totaling 73.1 innings pitched and a 4.10 earned run average. Following her time at SMCC, the Maine native continued her playing career at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.
Matt Davis (Men’s Soccer)
A two-year member of the men’s soccer program (2005-06), Matt Davis was voted a two-time YSCC All-Conference selection and a First Team USCAA All-American in 2006. The Hall of Fame defender made a USCAA national tournament appearance in 2005 and helped his team to a 17-11-1 overall record during his time with the Seawolves, 14-5 in conference play.
