SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Sophomores Vanese Barnes (Jay, Maine) and Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) were named SeaWolves of the Week on Monday, Jan. 30.
Barnes, of the women’s basketball team, averaged 15.5 points per game spanning a two-game home slate last week in which her team defeated the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA), but suffered a loss to Division I-opponent Dean College. Barnes’ most impressive showing was against Dean when she totaled a career-high 18 points, shooting seven of 10 from the field over 36 minutes of action in the game on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Silvestri, of the men’s basketball team, averaged near a double-double in 24.5 points and 9.5 rebounds over the same two-game span. The 6’2’’ forward poured in 31 points in just 14 minutes of work in his team’s win over UMA on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and notched his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds against Dean.
