Atencio is a second year player and captain for the Seawolves basketball team. He currently leads the 7-1 Seawolves in scoring, averaging 13.1 points per game, and is second in rebounding with 6.5 per contest. He scored a season high 22 points in SMCC's game against out of conference opponent, Bridgton Academy. Last season Atencio was the Seawolves' sixth man, coming off the bench to average 10.5 points (third highest on the team) and 5.1 rebounds per game. His efforts helped lead the 2013-14 team to the semifinal round of the YSCC conference tournament.
This season Martin and the Seawolves are currently ranked 1st in the YSCC East Division with six games remaining in the first semester. Their next contest will be at UMaine - Augusta on 11/25 at 8pm.
