The 1972 Men’s Basketball Team is the first team to be
inducted into the SMCC Athletics Hall of Fame. The team
finished that year with a 30-3 overall record en route to winning
the conference championship. At time of induction, the season
record of 30-3 ranks as the most wins in a season at the
College. Members of that team included Brian Cousins, Walter
Dearborn, Richard Fecteau, Ron Landry, Dave Leavitt, Reggie Mains,
Tom McGonagle, Bill Mershimer, Jim Stacy, Gary White, and the
deceased John Reed. The team was coached by John Dakin.
