SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The  Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split to conclude its Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) regular season series with the Lynx from NHTI on Saturday, Apr. 15.

Game 1: W, 7-2 | [BOX]

First-year Thomas Knott (Winterport, Maine) got the nod from Coach Lops and dazzled in his sixth start of the season, notching eight strikeouts over a complete-game performance. Backed by run support in the second, third, and fourth innings, Knott willed his team to its eighth consecutive victory.

Three Seawolves recorded multi-hit games highlighted Dylan Sellinger's (Auburn, Maine) two doubles. Sophomore captain Andrew Martin (Dracut, Mass.) finished a perfect 2-2 at the plate, with a walk and a RBI.

Game 2: L, 6-4 | [BOX]

The Seawolves struck first and continued to pad a lead to 4-0. The Lynx' offense stayed dormant until the seventh inning when the visitors rallied for six runs. SMCC went down in order to follow to take its first blemish in conference action.

Sophomores Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) and Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) combined for four hits, and first-year Ryan Thurber (South Portland, Maine) produced three RBI.

SMCC starter Kalin Marum (New South Wales, Australia) went 6.1 innings and suffered the loss; NHTI's Cole Johnston pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh inning to earn the win.

The Seawolves move to 14-11 overall, 5-1 YSCC.

Next, SMCC hosts Quincy College in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday, Apr. 16. First-pitch from Graves Athletic Field is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
