SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team defeated the Hawks from York County Community College (YCCC) 4-2 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) series finale on Monday, Apr. 22.

The Hawks managed to score two runs in the third inning, with Emerson Brown scoring by stealing home and Caden Petit crossing on a wild pitch. The Seawolves waited until the sixth inning to get even when sophomore Ryan Thurber (South Portland, Maine) singled on a bunt to the pitcher, driving in two runs.

SMCC broke the game open an inning later courtesy of a Brady O'Lone (Fort Myers, Fl.) 2-RBI triple to center field.

Coach Lops used three pitchers to get it done— sophomore Thomas Knott (Winterport, Maine), first-year Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine), and first-year Jason Libby (Bangor, Maine) combined for a total of 13 strikeouts. Keblinsky earned the win and Libby recorded the save. YCCC's Brady Doherty was taxed the loss.

SMCC improves to 22-10 overall, 7-3 in conference play.

The Seawolves return to the diamond on Tuesday, Apr. 23 when they host Quincy College in the YSCC series finale. First pitch in South Portland is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
