Seawolves Wrap Up Regular Season with a Win

South Portland - This afternoon the Seawolves were looking for redemption as they faced off against the Knights of Vermont Tech who had handed them a 72-68 loss when the teams first met in November. Seawolves sophomore forward John Morgan (Sanford, ME) put the team on his back, netting 21 points on 8-12 shooting, to lead SMCC to an eventual 79-68 triumph.

The Knights came out hot, jumping out to 8-2 early lead but a trio of layups by Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, NH), Matthew Jarrett (Norwalk, CT) and Jack Tolan (South Portland, ME) knotted the game at eight apiece. Over the course of the remaining 12 minutes the Seawolves outscored the Knights 24-11 to take a 32-19 lead into the intermission.

Tolan started the second half with a layup and shooting guard Grayson Waterman (Berwick, ME) followed with a three pointer to extend the SM lead to 18, their largest lead of the game. Three makes from downtown over the course of two minutes by VTC's Robert Holliday cut the Seawolves lead to ten but Waterman answered with two threes of his own to solidify the Seawolves victory.

This afternoon served as the final home game for three Seawolves; Jordan DeRosby (Waterville, ME), Jack Tolan and Grayson Waterman. The threesome joined Morgan on the leaderboard combining for 34 points, 20 rebounds and ten assists in today's game.

Holliday led all scorers with 30 points for the Knights.

The Seawolves complete regular season play posting a 13-16 overall record and an 8-5 record in conference play. SMCC will be back in action on Friday at 5pm at Central Maine CC where they will compete against NHTI in the quarterfinal round of the YSCC tournament.
