SeaWolves Edged By Williamson

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College men's basketball team was defeated 63-61 in a non-conference tilt against the Mechanics of Williamson on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Junior captain John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) led the SeaWolves in scoring with 15 points, shooting an efficient 6-10 from the floor and added five rebounds. Sophomore Chase Soares (Falmouth, Mass.) finished with 12 points and eight steals. Senior Michael Harmon (Portland, Maine) scored 10 and made two from beyond the arch.

The Mechanics held the slight 30-29 advantage over SMCC at the half as both teams played a methodical offense, exchanging buckets with each position. With 18 seconds remaining in the game, the SeaWolves pulled to within one, 62-61, on a made layup by first-year Anthony Lobor (Portland, Maine). Williamson scored again on a free throw, making it still a one possession game, but the home team was unable to get one to fall and suffered its first loss of the season.
