Silvestri Notches Double-Double In SeaWolves Loss

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College men's basketball team dropped its second game of the season at the HUB on Saturday, Jan. 28 to United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I Dean College 89-70.

Sophomore Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) notched his fifth double-double of the season, netting 18 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Spanning 13 minutes on the floor, Silvestri made an efficient eight of 13 improving on his second-best conference field-goal percentage (60.9 percent). Captain John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) poured in double figures with 13 and first-year Matthew Tenney (Sunapee, N.H.) finished with a season-high 10 points.

The SeaWolves outscored the Bulldogs 38-31 in the first half and even led by as many as 10. In the second half, Dean piled on 58 points shooting near 56 percent from the field to roll to its 12th victory of the season.  

SMCC out-rebounded its counterpart, but was unable to contain Naquwan Solomon and Dayvon Russell who combined for 42 points and 15-24 from the floor.

The SMCC men remain 10-2 in conference play, and stand at 17-5 overall.

The action continues when the SeaWolves welcome the Linx of New Hampshire Technical Institute on Tuesday, Jan. 31 in a cross-division Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest at the HUB. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
