Silvestri’s Monster Double-Double Powers SeaWolves By STU

AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season in a 67-50 rout of St. Thomas University on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Junior co-captain Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) recorded a career night with 24 points and 26 rebounds, shooting an efficient 57 percent from the field and grabbing 16 offensive boards. First-year Gregory Trinidad (Lawrence, Mass.) netted 15 in his first collegiate contest, knocking down three from beyond the arc.

Junior Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) knocked down a three-pointer for the first basket of the game to give the SeaWolves a lead they would never surrender. SMCC took a 14-point lead into the locker room at the half before outplaying STU 36-33 in the final 20 minutes.

In the same night Central Maine Community College beat the University of New Brunswick- St. John (UNBSJ), the SeaWolves begin their season 1-0.

SMCC returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 29 against the other SeaWolves of UNBSJ at 12:00 p.m. WATCH.
