GROTON, Conn.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team bounced back with yet another road victory, this time 70-51 at UConn-Avery Point on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

First-year Pedro Fonseca (Portland, Maine) topped all scorers with 19 and sophomore captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) looked polished on both ends of the floor contributing 10 points of his own. SMCC limited Avery Point to its lowest scoring total of the season and improved on its Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) best points-against-average, now 64.8

In a post-game interview Head Coach Matt Richards spoke, "Coming off a disappointing showing vs. CCRI, it was important that we come out with energy and efficiency from the start—and that is exactly what happened. I'm fond of the way this group gets up for away games; now we need to replicate the process on our home floor beginning this weekend."

With the result, the SeaWolves climb to 12-4 overall and remain undefeated at 7-0 on the road. Avery Point now stands 5-7 on the season.

The SeaWolves turn their sights to Saturday, Jan. 11 when they continue their NJCAA slate with the Buccaneers from Mass Bay Community College. Tip-off from the HUB is set for 1 p.m. WATCH LIVE or follow the GAME CAST.
