AUGUSTA, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team notched its second Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) victory, taking care of the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) 93-77 on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The SeaWolves held a 3-point advantage near the midway mark of the first half before stringing an 8-0 run to gain separation and finish the period ahead by a 13-point margin. UMA played the SeaWolves to a tighter three points in the second half, unable to make up the steady offensive production by the road team.

Sophomore captain Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) led all scorers in the game and tallied a season-high 25 points, adding 12 rebounds. Captains Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) and Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) combined for eight 3-pointers on 16 attempts and first-year guard Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) pulled down a season-high seven offensive rebounds.

As a team, the SeaWolves fired 43.5 percent from the floor and out-rebounded UMA 48-31.

Head Coach Matt Richards commented, "Everyone contributed in a team victory last night. Cam was a dominant force inside, his fundamental style has been a reliable score for us; and Zach continues to display efficient work in handling the offense. This team is playing with a level of confidence that should serve us well heading into a tough stretch before the break."

SMCC improves to 5-1 overall, 2-0 YSCC; UMA dips to 2-6 overall, 2-2 YSCC.

YSCC action continues when the SeaWolves play host to the Lynx from NHTI on Wednesday, Dec. 1. Tip-off from The HUB is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
