SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team jumped back in the win column conquering the Herons from Great Bay Community College 80-58 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Knotted 34-34 at the break, adjustments by SMCC limited Heron shooting to just 9-31 (29.0 percent) in the second half. In a game that featured 10 lead changes, the SeaWolves broke away on a 9-0 run at the 11-minute mark to get ahead for good.

Five finished in double figures for the home team, led again by sophomore captain Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) who filled up the stat sheet with his eighth double-double of the year—18 points and 12 rebounds. Junior captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) played an efficient brand putting away 15 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals.

Associate Head Coach AJ Burton stated, "It was great seeing our guys bounce back last night against a quality and well-coached conference opponent in Great Bay—playing great basketball as of late. Overall, I thought we executed on both ends of the floor. This group has learned a lot about themselves in the past couple games; it was nice to see us get back to our style."

SMCC improves to 7-3 overall, 4-1 YSCC; Great Bay dips to 6-7, 2-6 in league action.

Next, the SeaWolves travel to conference-rival Central Maine Community College on Tuesday, Dec. 14 for the first of a two-part series. Tip-off in Auburn is scheduled for 8 p.m.
