PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team rolled to a 78-47 win over the Herons of Great Bay Community College to complete the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) regular season sweep on Monday, Jan. 24.

The SeaWolves improved on their league-leading points against average (65.1 PPG), holding the opponent to a season low 47. First-year Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) led his team with a career-high 22 points; sophomore captain Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) contributed 14 and junior captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) chipped in 12.

Following the game, Associate Head Coach AJ Burton commented, "Last night was a great bounce-back win after a heartbreaker on Saturday. Our guys played motivated and for each other on both ends. There were contributions from everyone—and that it what is needed for us to be successful. We are entering the stretch now where we want to be playing our best basketball. I feel confident we are headed in that direction."

The result pushes SMCC to 11-4 overall and 8-1 in league standings; Great Bay drops its second straight to sit 7-10 overall, 2-8 in YSCC play.

Conference action continues when the SeaWolves host the Moose from the University of Maine at Augusta on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Tip-off inside The HUB is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
