SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team clobbered the Panthers from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences 125-49 to pick up its eighth straight Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) win on Saturday, Feb. 5.

The home team got out to a 16-0 start and never looked back. Setting season-highs in every offensive category, SMCC connected on 62.8 percent from the field and 55.9 percent from beyond the arc. The SeaWolves assisted on 34 of their 49 made field goals and came away with 18 steals on the other end.

Junior captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) continued his hot run with 15 points on 7-10 shooting, and rookie guard Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) also dropped 15 with six assists. First-year Myles Brown (Deer Isle, Maine) came off the bench to knock down four threes in as many attempts to tally a career-high 12 points.

Albany's Caleb Scrime topped all scorers with 17 points in 36 minutes of work.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Matt Richards stated, "I was thrilled, with good contributions from guys—we were able to spread minutes around." To reference his team's style, Richards explained, "We have to get great ball movement, it has to go inside and out, and we have to read screens the right way to then hit open shots. And that's how we have to play to be good."

SMCC improves to 11-1 in conference play, and 14-4 overall. ACPHS remains winless at 0-7 in league standings, 0-11 overall.

Next, the SeaWolves travel to Newport, R.I. to play a make-up with the Naval Academy Preparatory School on Sunday, Feb. 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
