NEWPORT, R.I.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team suffered a 72-63 defeat to the Midshipmen of the Naval Academy Preparatory School in non-conference action Sunday, Feb. 6.

Junior captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) led his team with 18 points—his fourth consecutive game in double digits.

With two regular season contests remaining, SMCC stands 14-5 overall and 11-1 in conference play. The result pushes Navy Prep to 6-3 on the season.

Following the game, Associate Head Coach AJ Burton commented, "A back-to-back is always a tough challenge, especially one that includes a road trip to Navy Prep. Even though it was not the result we wanted, we accomplished other goals we aimed to achieve. We will learn and grow from this outcome as we enter the last week of the regular season."

The SeaWolves host their conference rivals Central Maine Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 8:00 p.m. Prior to the game, the men's program will honor its three graduating players for their commitment and accomplishments to the program—Cameren Cousins, Zachary Mickle, and Ian Regan.
