Beavers Edge Seawolves 74-72

FARMINGTON, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team suffered a 74-72 loss at the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) in non-conference play on Sunday, Nov. 26.

The Seawolves held a 3-point advantage at the break, as sophomores Cayman Warburton (Worcester, Mass.), Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine), and Colby Dillingham (Norway, Maine) all contributed eight points.

The Beavers made up the difference in the second half, and with the scored knotted at 69-69, SMCC alum Zachary Mickle and first-year Adam Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) traded three-pointers. Mickle delivered again on a made field goal with seconds remaining in the regulation to lift his team to victory.

As a collective, the Seawolves converted at a 47.7 percent clip from the floor, but were out-rebounded by seven. Briggs finished with 15 points and junior co-captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.) totaled nine points and seven assists.

SMCC suffers its second straight loss to slip to 5-2 overall.

Conference action continues when the Seawolves play host to the Lynx from NHTI in the first of two regular season meetings. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
