PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team finished the job in overtime on Wednesday, Dec. 6, defeating the Herons of Great Bay Community College (GBCC) 91-88 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action.

The Herons took a 6-point advantage into the half, but the Seawolves would make up their deficit margin over the last 20 minutes, capped by a three-point make by first-year Charlie Houghton (Dixfield, Maine) at the closing seconds.

SMCC managed to keep the momentum, take a lead and convert pivotal free-throw attempts in overtime to secure the victory.

Houghton's clutch performance came with a season-high 19 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine) logged his usual 18 points, Colby Dillingham (Norway, Maine) matched it, and sophomore guard Cayman Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) added 14.

Great Bay's Kingsley Breen did much of the damage pouring in a game-high 34 points on 12-17 shooting, 4-6 from beyond the arc. Theodore Wolfe, Bryce Gibson, and Mpore Semuhoza all netted double figures.

SMCC earns its second in-a-row to get to 7-3 overall, 2-1 in league play. GBCC stands 7-3 thus far, 2-3 YSCC.

Next, the Seawolves play host to Vermont State University- Randolph in the first of two regular season YSCC meetings on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
