SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team routed the Buccaneers from MassBay Community College 83-50 in non-conference action on Saturday, Jan. 6.

The home team totaled a 51-point first half powered by 13 points from first-year forward Adam Savage (Skowhegan, Maine). The Seawolves nearly matched MassBay's scoring production in the second half with effective bench play to keep the opposition at a comfortable distance.

Savage finished his efficient afternoon with 15 points, converting 6-7 from the floor and a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc. 12 others found the scoresheet for the Seawolves to include double digit efforts from rookie guard Cole Pulkinen (Hebron, Maine) and sophomore forward Ben Mullett (Hudson, N.H.). As a team, SMCC recorded a field goal percentage of 50 percent or greater for the third time this season (52.9%).

MassBay's Joshua DeJesus led his team with 29 points on 11-22 shooting.

The Seawolves extend their win streak to two and improve to 9-4 overall. MassBay drop to 6-7 on the season.

The action continues when the Seawolves play host to the Bobcats from Paul Smith's College in the first of two conference regular season meetings on Monday, Jan. 8. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
