LEXINGTON, Mass.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team suffered a 90-55 loss at Lesley University (NCAA Div. 3) on Thursday, Nov. 14.
The Seawolves jumped ahead 7-2 out of the opening tip, but Lesley rallied to double up on SMCC's first half point total. SMCC improved on its offensive production in the second half by an 11-point margin but the defensive effort wasn't enough to slow down a potent Lynx offense.
Three SMCC starters finished in double figures— senior captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.), sophomore Julius Silva (Biddeford, Maine) and junior Colby Dillingham (Norway, Maine) all totaled 11 points.
Lesley was led by Austin Hamilton's 17 bench points. As a team, the opposition fired a 50.0 percent clip from beyond the arc (15-30). This the difference in a below-average shooting performance by the Seawolves.
SMCC drops its third straight to open the season; Lesley moves to 2-1 overall.
The Seawolves will open Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) scheduling when they host the Panthers from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences inside the HUB Athletics Building on Saturday, Nov. 16. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
