AUGUSTA, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team fell short, 70-68, to Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The Moose would take an early lead, going on an 8-0 run in the first four minutes of regulation. UMA continued its offensive production to get up by as much as 15 points in the first half. The Seawolves gained a spark when freshman Tucker Stiles (South Bristol, Maine) knocked down two three-pointers, leading the Seawolves to a comeback effort and just a three-point deficit going into halftime.

In the second half, UMA strung together a run building another 14-point lead. The Seawolves answered the bell again, this time to take a lead, 59-58, with seven minutes remaining. With 19 seconds left, UMA's Donte Sharp broke a tie ballgame with a jumper to secure the win.

The Seawolves would be led by senior captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn) who would record his first double-double of the season. Sophomore Charlie Houghton (Dixfield, Maine) and freshman Sean Bosia (Dracut, Mass) combined for 30 points and 13 rebounds; and junior Colby Dillingham (Norway, Maine) added nine points and three rebounds for the Seawolves.

Sharp topped his team with 24 points while shooting 57.1% from the field. UMA center Trevor Beals contributed 17 points and grabbed four rebounds.

SMCC remains winless at 0-5; UMA claims its first victory of the season at 1-5.

The Seawolves are back in action on Friday, Nov. 22 where they travel to Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) in a YSCC contest. Tip-off in Pottersville, N.Y. is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
