LITCHFIELD, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf program carded its third straight first place finish at The Meadows Golf Club on Sunday, Sept. 18, an event hosted by the University of Maine at Augusta.

Team Scores

  1. SMCC (314)
  2. CMCC (328)
  3. NHTI (362)
  4. UMA (DQ)

First-year Alex Leupold (South Portland, Maine) turned in his best round of the year with a 75 to finish as the low score among 20 golfers at the event. Sophomore Zach Tremblay (Milledgeville, Ga.) followed suit two strokes behind as the second-place finisher in the individual circuit. Sophomore Albert Doughty (New Gloucester, Maine) and first-year Remy Levin (Steep Falls, Maine) both fired an 81 to round out the scoring team. First-year Aubray Lincoln (New Gloucester, Maine) scored a 94.

In a post-match interview, Head Coach AJ Burton commented, "This past weekend we were able to carry the momentum into Meadows. Dealing with some inclement weather, it was great seeing two of our first-years Alex and Remy have breakout rounds—showing the balance this team can provide for each other. Very proud of how we have continued to improve every week and hopefully carry this run into our home match this Sunday at Purpoodock."

The Seawolves return to the links on Sunday, Sept. 25 when they host a Yankee Small College Conference match at Purpoodock Golf Club in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Tee-times begin at 12:00 p.m.
