
The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women beat Unity College 80-36 on their home floor. The Seawolves' bench provided a much needed spark after a slow beginning.
Freshman Katelyn Benson (Westbrook, ME) led all scorers with 18 points and also contributed 6 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists. Senior point guard Hanna Lyons (Scarborough, ME) dished out 6 assists to her 1 turnover and also pulled down 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Stefanie and Kristal Saavedra (Portland, ME) were strong off the bench. Stefanie contributed 8 points and 12 rebounds including 10 offensive boards while Kristal pulled down 10 rebounds along with 1 block and 2 steals.
The Seawolves move to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The women take on Vermont Technical College tomorrow at home. Game time is slated for noon.
