Presque Isle, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team picked up a big win in double overtime against University of Maine Presque Isle (UMPI). It was a tight game throughout, with multiple lead changes and the score 30-29 at the half. SMCC hit a shot with 45 seconds left in the second overtime to go up one and then hit a free throw with 2 seconds left to go up 2.
SMCC was led by sophomore guard Emily Bard (Fort Kent, ME) who had 17 points. Freshman forward Maria Veino (Sanford, ME) added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Freshman guard Rogetta Donalson(Hyannis, MA) came off the bench to chip in 13 points, 4 blocks and 3 steals.
SMCC (7-1 overall 3-0 YSCC) will play Yankee Small College Conference Opponent (YSCC) Vermont Technical College (VTC) next Saturday December 1st. Game is scheduled for 1:00PM at the Hutchinson Union Building Athletic Center.
