
South Portland - In this afternoon's basketball action the Lady Seawolves faced off against the Lady Rams of Navy Prep. The unselfish play by the Seawolves, getting 28 assists on 35 made field goals, helped them prevail over Navy Prep by a score of 85-68.
Sophomore forward Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) recorded her first double double of the season netting 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds and also dished out six assists. Seawolf point guard Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) led the way on the offensive end, pouring in 19 points on 7-14 shooting, four field goals coming from behind the arc, and and handed out five assists. Other noteworthy Lady Seawolf performances came from shooting guards Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) and Chandler Waterman (North Berwick, ME) who each notched 12 points. McCusker also added six rebounds and six assists, while Waterman grabbed five rebounds for SMCC.
Leading all scorers was Navy Prep point guard Taylor Dunham (Alexandria, VA) who racked up 32 points while handing out five assists and came away with three steals. Also making big contributions were Franki Treglia (State College, PA) with 18 points and seven rebounds and Ashanti Curry (Jacksonville, NC) with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
With this win the Lady Seawolves improve to 2-1 overall, 0-0 in the YSCC. The Lady Seawolves will return to action on Monday November 11th versus Hampshire College at 5pm.
