Lady Seawolves Win First Conference Road Game

Randolph, VT - The Lady Seawolves traveled to Vermont to take on Vermont Technical College in their first YSCC conference road game. The defensive pressure applied by SMCC held VTC's two offensive powerhouses to singe digit scoring allowing the Lady Seawolves to overcome the Lady Knights 59-37.

In a hectic paced game both teams committed 30 turnovers, luckily the Lady Seawolves were able to capitalize on VTC's mistakes with easy transition baskets. Numerous of those fast break points came from SMCC shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) who dropped in 21 points during the contest, the only player to score in double digits for either team. The Lady Seawolves also outrebounded the Lady Knights by 25, being led by guard Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME) who grabbed 11 rebounds and forward Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) who added eight boards for SMCC.

With this win the Lady Seawolves improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Seawolves will return to action on Wednesday November 20th at Dean College at 5:30pm.
