Second Half Run Pushes Lady Seawolves Past UMA

South Portland - After trailing by one point at the half in tonight's YSCC women's basketball action, the Lady Seawolves came out reenergized after the break to pull away from the Lady Moose from the University of Maine - Augusta and grab the 69-61 victory.

After twenty minutes of play the Lady Seawolves found themselves down 30-29 going into halftime but opened up the second half with a 15-0 run in the first four minutes to go on top 44-30. In that same four minute time span the Lady Seawolves forced the Lady Moose into committing eight turnovers. The Lady Seawolves would extend the lead to 20 points with 10:52 remaining in regulation, but the Lady Moose fought back and brought it to within eight points to end the contest. 

Pacing the Lady Seawolves was shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) who poured in a game high 20 points to go along with five assists, five steals, and five rebounds. Teammate Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME) chipped in with 15 points and six boards and Maria Veino (Sanford, ME) contributed 14 points and eight rebounds. SMCC forward Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) also grabbed nine boards for the Lady Seawolves. Leading the Moose were guards Jennifer Lola (Monmouth, ME) who dropped in 19 points to go with nine boards and Arreonte Lee (San Antonio, TX) who had 18 points and nine rebounds. Jaimi Plummer (Richmond, ME) also chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Moose. 

With this win the Lady Seawolves move to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in YSCC play. They will return to action on Saturday January 25th at the University of Maine - Machias at 1pm.
