
South Portland - In this afternoon's women's basketball action the Lady Owls of UMaine - Presque Isle shot a perfect 13-13 from the charity stripe in the first half to give the Owls a 37-27 lead over the Lady Seawolves going into halftime. In the second half the Lady Owls shot an impressive 50% from the floor, 67% from the 3 point line and 85% from the free throw line to come away with the 72-54 victory.
Leading the way for the Lady Seawolves were forwards Maria Veino (Sanford, ME), 11 points and Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) eight points, seven rebounds. Guard Zyrah Giustra (New Sharon, ME) grabbed a game high 11 boards. Pacing the Owls were point guard Darby Toth (North Port, FL) and shooting guard Amanda Hotham (Fort Fairfield, ME) who each netted 17 points each and shooting guard Olivia McNally (Sherman, ME) who chipped in 16.
With this loss the Lady Seawolves drop to 15-6 overall and maintain an 11-1 conference record. The Lady Seawolves will return to action on Thursday January 6th at New Hampshire Technical Institute at 6pm.
