Lady Seawolves Too Much for Lynx

Concord, NH - In tonight's women's basketball action the Lady Seawolves faced off against the Lady Lynx of New Hampshire Technical Institute. The Seawolves trailed by three with 12:14 remaining in the first half but Seawolves' forward Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) sparked a run with her aggressive play in the paint to put SMCC on top 42-30 going into halftime. The Seawolves widen the lead to 21 points with 9:40 remaining in regulation and came away with a 81-66 victory.

Deng led the Lady Seawolves with 22 points, going 8-12 from the charity stripe, and 10 boards. Shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) netted 17 points and teammate Maria Veino (Sanford, ME) chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds. 5'2" point guard Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) was a force on the boards tonight as she grabbed a season high nine rebounds while dishing out five assists. And shooting guard Chandler Waterman (Berwick, ME) added nine points, sinking three shots from behind the arc and adding flare by kissing two of those three shots off the glass.

Lady Lynx' point guard Sara Romano led her team with 22 points while center Allura LeBlanc dropped in 15 points and grabbed eight boards. Shooting guard Danielle Kimball chipped in with 12 points.

After tonight's game the Lady Seawolves improve to 16-6 on the season, while sporting an 11-1 conference record. They will be back in action on Saturday February 8th at home home against the University of Maine - Machias at 1pm.
