South Portland - The Lady Seawolves used full court defensive pressure to alleviate a tough shooting night on the offensive end of the floor and forced NHTI into 35 turnovers to come away with the 66-52 victory. Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) led the team with 17 points and eight rebounds, including 7-9 shooting from the charity stripe. 

With 7:20 remaining in the first half the Lynx were in the driver's seat, 24-18, but three consecutive layups by Maria Veino (Sanford, ME), Katherine Cyr (Chicopee, MA) and Jordan Turner (Casco, ME) to knot the game at 24-24. Cyr then drained a shot from downtown to put the Seawolves back on top with five minutes remaining in the half. After an evenly played final five minutes the Seawolves entered the break holding on to a three point advantage, 35-32.

In second half action neither team shot well, with SMCC shooting 28% (10-35) from the field and 0-3 from the three point line and NHTI shooting 9-30 from field and 1-12 from beyond the arc. The difference in the second half was how each team performed from the free throw line. The Seawolves knocked down 11-16 second half attempts (18-27 for the game) from the charity stripe while the Lynx connected on only 1-6 in the second half and 3-17 for the game. Another difference maker was each teams' ability to convert on turnovers, SMCC scored 30 points off turnovers while NHTI scored just four.

Joining Hoyt on the leader board was post player Amira Jones (Chicopee, MA) who netted 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Cyr who added 14 points and five steals. Turner pitched in with five points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Allura LeBlanc led the Lynx with 15 points and five rebounds. 

With this win the Lady Seawolves have four straight, the longest streak thus far this season. Tomorrow they will look to pick up fifth consecutive win when they travel to UMaine-Machias for a 1pm game.
