Women Top Dean and Continue Hot Start

FRANKLIN, Mass.— The Southern Maine Community College women's basketball team took care of business 65-63 at Dean College on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The SeaWolves snapped the Bulldogs' 5-0 start to improve to 5-0 themselves. Entering the game, Dean held the advantage all-time winning nine of 10 previous meetings. For SMCC, this was the first road victory against Dean in program history!

Co-captain Hannah Heald (Union, Maine) and senior Jennifer Conrad (Monmouth, Maine) led the way for the SeaWolves both scoring 18 points. First-year Kaylah Abdul (South Berwick, Maine) was clutch down the stretch and added 11 points to help her team secure the win.

Head Coach Katie Bergeron commented, "This win was the result of a well-executed game plan- discipline and mental toughness. We had a 10-point lead at half time, but the outcome was determined in the final seconds of the game. With less than 30 seconds left on the clock, the score was tied; Kaylah was able to get to the line and make both. It was an exciting win in which everyone contributed."

The action continues when the undefeated SeaWolves travel to Unity College on Wednesday, Nov. 16 to play its first Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
