Assante Accepts GA Position at Regis College

WESTON, Mass.— Sarah Assante is the newest addition to the women's basketball coaching staff at Regis College upon her recent acceptance of the program's Graduate Assistant position.

Assante was hired as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Southern Maine Community College in August of 2016 and proved to be a tremendous asset to the program in her first season helping the Lady SeaWolves to a 24-5 overall record and a trip to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament.

The Regis Pride women's basketball team finished 22-7 last season and were crowned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) champions for the fifth consecutive season. Regis athletics will belong to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) beginning the 2017-18 campaign.

In addition to her coaching duties, Assante will work towards her Master of Science degree in Organizational and Professional Communication.

Assante commented, "I'm super excited about this opportunity ahead of me. It's been my goal to obtain a graduate assistantship at a college, so for me to work under Coach Santa Fe and the Regis program in addition to earning my master's degree is a dream come true. With that being said, I am sad to leave my SMCC family where I have created so many great relationships. This community has meant so much to me and it's an experience I would never change. I thank the SMCC women's basketball program for an amazing year and wish these ladies continued success!"
