SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team picked up their fourth consecutive win in an offensive outburst 115-50 over Great Bay Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The Seawolves set the tone early on, leading the Herons 60-18 at the half. The team knocked down a season-high 22 three-pointers on 49 attempts (44.9%) and every member contributed to the stat sheet.

The game included some star performances from sophomore Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) who connected for a career-high 39 points and a program-best 11 three-pointers. Junior captain Ashleigh Mathisen (Portland, Maine) finished with 28 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Great Bay's sophomore Mary Paradis showed up against tough odds and ended the game with 25 points and nine rebounds.

Head Coach Katie Stannard was thrilled, "Last night's game was fun. Everyone showed up motivated to compete for this program. They played loose and simple, and hit shots! We got offensive rebounds on half of our misses- which is a huge emphasis of ours and a great way to build offensive momentum.  I am so proud of every single one of them – but so happy for Maddy to have an accomplishment like last night. 11 three-pointers on 19 minutes of play is special!"

SMCC bumps to 17-5 overall and 10-1 in league action.

The Seawolves play next at The HUB against the University of Maine at Augusta on Sunday, Feb. 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
