York and Andrews power SMCC over UMF

FARMINGTON, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team came away victorious at the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) 69-62 on Sunday, Nov. 26.

SMCC outscored the Beavers in both the first and second quarters to take a 4-point advantage into the half. Junior co-captain Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) scored eight of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to lift her team with a late run and a seven point win.

Junior co-captain Aija Andrews (Norwalk, Conn.) netted double digits for the third time this season with 17—she added eight rebounds, five assists, and seven blocks to a complete state line. Senior co-captain Hope Butler (Rockland, Maine) threw in 10 points on 3-6 shooting.

UMF's Melissa Mayo came off the bench to lead the Beavers with 18 points.

The Seawolves win their second straight to improve to 5-1 overall.

Conference action continues when SMCC plays host to the Lynx from NHTI in the first of two regular season meetings. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
