Lady Seawolves Edge St. Joe's JV

Standish - The Lady Seawolves were on the road tonight to match up against St. Joseph's College of Maine's JV squad. The Seawolves came out on top, earning the 2-1 triumph, giving them their second win of the season. 

SMCC struck first on offense when midfielder Zyrah Giustra (New Sharon, ME) serviced a ball from the left side of the field to the middle where she found teammate Breagh Macaulay (Baddeck, Nova Scotia) diving in from the right side. Macaulay collected the slotted it to the near post past the St. Joe's goalkeeper.

Goal two for the Lady Seawolves came from a long assist out of the backfield by defender Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) to forward Katy Cyr (Chicopee, MA) who turned a St. Joe's defender, dribbled past her on the left side and then beat the keeper far post.

The Lady Monks scored on a botched goal kick by the Seawolves. An SMCC defender attempted a clearance off a Lady Monks shot but richocheted the ball off the opponent putting St. Joe's on the scoreboard. 

With this win for the Lady Seawolves they advance to 2-4-1 with five games remaining in the regular season. SMCC will be back in action on Saturday September 27th with a long road trip to visit YSCC foe the University of Maine - Machias.
