Double Hat Trick Leads to Lady Seawolves 8-0 Victory

South Portland - Lady Seawolves' forwards Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) and Katy Cyr (Chicopee, MA) each netted a hat trick in today's matchup against the Lady Mustangs of Central Maine Community en route to an 8-0 victory.

The offense was quiet for both teams until the 29th minute when McCusker chipped a shot in the left corner of the goal, then the offense exploded. Over a five minute period the Seawolves scored four goals, two by McCusker, one by Cyr and one by forward Michaela Pratt (Guilford, ME) to put SMCC up 4-0 with 12:51 remaining in the first half. Cyr closed out the first half with a shot she toe balled into the net from ten yards out.

In the second half midfielder Taylor Clapp (Richmond, ME) resumed the Seawolves' scoring right away, burying a ball from thirty yards out with only two and a half minutes having expired from the clock. Cyr wrapped up her hat trick performance when her shot took a friendly bounce past the Mustangs keeper with 35 minutes remaining and McCusker netted her third goal, the final one for SMCC, on a breakaway down the left side when she executed a slight hesitation move to put the Mustangs defenders on their heels as she blew by them and slotted the ball past the goalie.

The Lady Seawolves ended the game with 31 shot attempts while the Mustangs only managed to get off five. CMCC keeper Jasmine Hatch had 14 saves on the afternoon.

The Seawolves and Mustangs will engage in a rematch on Sunday at CMCC at 1pm as SMCC looks to improve their 3-5-1 record.
