Lady Seawolves Earn Third Consecutive Shutout

South Portland - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves earned their third consecutive shutout as the beat the St. Joe's of Maine JV squad by a score of 5-0, picking up their fifth win of the season.

In today's matchup the Lady Seawolves controlled the ball for the majority of the game, outshooting St. Joe's 44 attempts to one. Forward Katy Cyr (Chicopee, MA) connected for two goals in the first half, giving her a total of 11 on the season and making her one of the top five goal scorers in the conference. Midfielder Zyrah Giustra (New Sharon, ME) chipped in with an unassisted goal at the 32nd minute to give the Seawolves a 3-0 advantage, going into the break.

In second half action forward Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) knocked one past the St. Joe's keeper off a pass from teammate Michaela Pratt (Guilford, ME). Defender Marina West (Farmington, ME) rounded out the the SMCC offense by burying a shot in the right corner of the net. 

St. Joe's goalkeeper Michelle Cunha ended the game with 23 saves on 44 shots. Seawolves' goalie Aime Worcester (Naples, ME) had only one save in the contest but her goals against average (1.86) is now the second best in the YSCC.

The Lady Seawolves will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at home against Unity College at 1pm.
