Lady Seawolves Lose to Unity in YSCC Quarterfinal

Unity - In last night's YSCC quarterfinal matchup the Lady Rams of Unity College were able to overcome the Lady Seawolves of SMCC for the third time this season, defeating the Seawolves 2-0 and earning themselves a spot in the YSCC semifinals.

After a Zoe Picanso score at the 18 minute mark the Lady Seawolves found themselves chasing a one goal deficit. The SMCC defense did a nice job keep Unity off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half but the attack could not find a way to put the ball past the Lady Rams' keeper. The score remained 1-0 until 73:39 when Unity forward Mariza Gionfriddo sunk a shot into the back of the net off a pass from teammate Ashley Moeller. The Rams were able to hold on to the 2-0 lead and knock the Seawolves out of the playoffs.

The Lady Seawolves end the 2014 season with a 5-7-1 overall record, while going 2-5 in conference play.
