Giustra's Hat Trick Leads Seawolves to 7-1 Victory

Auburn -Southern Maine's Zyrah Giustra (New Sharon, ME) had the most impressive performance of her collegiate career in this afternoon's game against Central Maine CC. The junior midfielder assisted teammate Hannah Fields (Shapleigh, ME) on the first goal of the game and proceeded to score three of her own goals to lead SMCC to a 7-1 victory over YSCC opponent CMCC.

Just four minutes into the game Giustra took the ball down the left side of the field, slotted a pass across the top to Fields who hit a low shot from twenty yards out to put the Seawolves on the scoreboard. Less than a minute later defender Maria Veino (Sanford, ME) played a long ball from the defensive side of the field to Giustra who dribbled to the net and scored near post. Tori Cormier (Lebanon, ME), Giustra and Madelyn Wade (Brunswick, ME) each notched a goal in the first half to give SMCC a 5-1 lead going into halftime.

Giustra opened up the second half with her third goal of the afternoon and Samantha Cleaves (North Yarmouth, ME) found the back of the net with just five minutes remaining in the game. Cleaves also chalked up two assists to go along with her goal.

Seawolves' keeper Tori Strain (Freedom, ME) had four saves.

The Seawolves are now 3-1-0 overall, second best in the YSCC. Their next test will be on the road against the Lady Bulldogs of Dean College on Saturday, September 19th at 1pm.
