Fields Breaks Record, SMCC Falls to Dean

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to the Bulldogs of Dean College in a non-conference tilt on Monday, Oct. 10.

Dean netted the first goal of the match at the 17-minute mark and followed up with another in the 39th to claim a 2-0 advantage. Seconds later, sophomore Hannah Fields (Shapleigh, Maine) delivered a cross into the box where sophomore Madelyn Wade (Brunswick, Maine) connected on the other end. Wade scored her ninth goal of the season, as Fields picked up the point she needed to become the all-time leader in program history. View that press release HERE.

The Lady SeaWolves out-shot their opponent 15 to 13, however, Dean would tack on two more in the second half to extend its lead over the home team 4-1. SMCC's goal keeper Emily Harris (Dayton, Maine) notched four saves on 10 shot attempts.

The Lady SeaWolves concluded their 2016 regular season at 2-4 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play, and 4-7 overall.

SMCC will plan to travel to the University of Maine- Machias to face the 5-1 (conference) Clippers in its YSCC North play-in game on Monday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
