PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team was defeated in five sets by the Herons of Great Bay Community College (GBCC) in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) tilt on Tuesday, Sept. 28.

The Herons took the first set 26-24, before the SeaWolves got even in the second by the same score. SMCC won the third set to gain the advantage 2-1, but the home squad stormed back to win the fourth set by 13 and then the race to 15 by five.

Coach Garrett Lewellen expressed, "There was better communication and energy tonight, and by this standard we are continuing to improve! It was a bit heart breaking not to pull this one out, but the girls recognize the progress they've made and look forward building this momentum."

The action continues when the SeaWolves host the Mustangs from Central Maine Community College from the HUB Athletics Center on Thursday, Sept. 30. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. WATCH all the action live.
