Volleyball Falls In Semis, Catoggio and Lewellen Receive Postseason Recognition

CONCORD, N.H.—The #4 Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team was defeated in three straight sets to the eventual Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) champion #1 Bobcats from Paul Smith's College (PSC) in the semifinal round of the tournament on Sunday, Oct. 17.

The SeaWolves fell 19-25 and 17-25 before giving the Bobcats a run late in the third set but to conclude their season 25-27. Head Coach Garrett Lewellen commented, "To boil it down, we did not put the ball away effectively and a talented Paul Smith's team took advantage. Although disappointing to finish this way, I can say we continued to band together and make huge improvements throughout the season. I really enjoyed working with these girls and I'm already looking forward to next year."

In addition to a postseason appearance in its inaugural season, the women's volleyball team celebrated first-year Talia Catoggio (Gorham, Maine) in her selection to the YSCC All-Conference team and Coach Lewellen for his achievement of YSCC Coach of the Year.
