Athletics Engagement and Academic Report: Spring 2021May 24, 2021SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Director of Athletics Matt Richards published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2021 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. The report shows student-athlete GPAs and retention rates based on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) normal progress rules for athletic participation eligibility—a higher threshold than those standards of the College.

AJ Burton Appointed Head Golf CoachApril 28, 2021SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletic Department has announced the hiring of AJ Burton as Head Golf Coach effective immediately. Burton has worked as a contributing member of the department staff since August of 2016 in a multitude of positions. In addition to his role on the golf course, Coach Burton will continue to serve as the Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Game Management Supervisor, and adjunct faculty member in the Sport Management degree program at the College.
