  • Lady Seawolves beat CMCC, upset NHTI to win YSCC Championship
    April 26, 2014
    Concord, NH - In today's conference playoff matchup the Lady Seawolves dominated the Lady Mustangs of CMCC 13-4 to advance to the championship game. In the championship the Lady Seawolves upset top seed NHTI, 1-0, to defend their 2013 YSCC title.

  • Seawolves Sweep Eagles on Senior Day

    South Portland - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves recognized lone senior, catcher Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) as she played in her final home games today against the Golden Eagles of EMCC. Trafton played a major role in helping her team snag two wins as she went seven for eight at the plate with seven runs scored, five RBI's and two stolen bases. The Seawolves triumphed over the Eagles 12-4 in the first game and 17-10 in the second.
  • Lady Seawolves Fall to Dean in Double Header

    South Portland - The Lady Seawolves dropped a pair today against the Lady Bulldogs of Dean College in this afternoon's double header softball action. In game one there were three lead changes before Dean finally took the lead for the final time in the fifth inning with a 6-4 advantage, eventually pulling away with the 9-7 victory. In the second game the Bulldogs held on to a 4-3 lead at the end of the second inning and managed to hold the Seawolves scoreless for the remaining five innings en route to a 5-3 triumph.
  • Lynx Sink Seawolves in Double Header

    South Portland - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves competed in their fourth consecutive double header in four days. In much more temperature friendly conditions, the Seawolves matched up against the Lady Lynx from New Hampshire Technical Institute in only their third and fourth conference games of the spring season. Despite the best efforts of Seawolves' pitcher Charlotte Lewis (Chatham, NH), who pitched all eight games for the Lady Seawolves in the past four days and who was able to rack up 14 strikeouts in this afternoon's two contests, the Lady Lynx of NHTI were still able to prevail 8-3 in the first game and 4-0 in the second.
  • CCRI Takes Two From Seawolves

    South Portland - Despite a great effort by the Lady Seawolves in today's double header against CCRI, they came up short in game one falling to the Lady Knights 12-6. In the second game the Lady Seawolves held onto an 8-6 lead from the second inning until the fifth when CCRI scored three runs to go up one, 9-8. The Lady Seawolves tied it up in the bottom of the sixth but Lady Knights leftfielder Alex Place hit an RBI double in the final inning to give CCRI the one run advantage, overcoming the Seawolves 10-9.
  • Seawolves, Mustangs Split in Double Header

    South Portland - In today's Yankee Small College Conference softball action conference rivals, SMCC and CMCC, battled in a double header. The two teams were evenly matched and each program came away with one win. The Lady Mustangs took game one by a score of 16-8, a deceptive final score after a numerous ties and lead changes in the first six innings of the contest. The Lady Seawolves took game two, which was called in five innings due to darkness, by a score of 8-5.
  • Lady Seawolves Sweep Northern Essex

    South Portland - This morning's snow covered softball field did not look promising for playing today's double header but the women's team pitched in and shoveled the field this morning, allowing them to get their games in. The Lady Seawolves picked up two wins this afternoon against the Lady Knights of Northern Essex Community College. Both games were completed in four innings of play. The first ended with a 13-2 Seawolves victory and the second game finished at 15-3.
  • Lady Seawolves Pick Up Two Wins Against UMPI

    South Portland - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves played at home for the first time this spring in double header action against the Lady Owls of the University of Maine - Presque Isle. They gave the home crowd quite a show beating the Owls 8-1 in the first game and coming from behind in game two, chalking up seven runs in the sixth inning, to grab the 9-6 victory.
  • Seawolves Lose Two to Dean

    Franklin, MA - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves traveled to Massachusetts to face off against the Lady Bulldogs of Dean College in a nonconference double header. The Lady Bulldogs were able to capitalize on errors committed by the Lady Seawolves and defeat SMCC in the first game by a score of 11-2 and in the second game by a score of 7-3.
  • Lady Seawolves Split with Briarcliffe

    Patchogue, NY - This weekend the Lady Seawolves traveled to New York to take on USCAA member, Briarcliffe College in a double header. The Seawolves pulled out the 4-3 triumph in the first of the two matches but the Lady Bulldogs of Briarcliffe rallied in the second contest coming away with an 8-0 victory over the Seawolves.
  • Penn State Overcomes Lady Seawolves in Double Header

    Cocoa Beach, FL - The Lady Seawolves wrapped up their preseason play yesterday when the took on USCAA foe Penn State - Hazleton. The Seawolves were much improved on the offense putting up more runs in the first Penn State matchup than the four previous preseason contests but the Lady Seawolves fell short in both games, falling 7-3 in the first and 7-6 in the second.
  • Carlow Too Much for SMCC

    Cocoa Beach, FL - In this afternoon's double header the Lady Seawolves faced off against the Lady Celtics of Carlow University located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Lady Celtics pitching staff took care of business giving up no runs in the first game, defeating the Seawolves 14-0 and only allowing one run in the second game again defeating the Seawolves, this time by a score of 9-1.
  • Lady Seawolves Drop Pair in Season Opener
    March 10, 2014
    Cocoa Beach, FL - The Lady Seawolves traveled south to open up the 2014 spring season against St. Cloud Technical and Community College (SCTCC), followed by a game against County College of Morris (CCM). In the first game SCTCC came out strong and pulled away from the Lady Seawolves early to come up with a 9-1 victory in five innings. Against County College of Morris the Lady Seawolves faired slightly better on the offensiveend, putting two runs on the scoreboard, but CCM prevailed after six innings by a score of 10-2.

    South Portland - In the semifinal round of today's NECA softball tournament action, NHTI pitcher Tori Lemay (Manchester, NH) pitched seven innings giving up only five hits and no runs to lead the Lady Lynx to a 6-0 victory over the Lady Seawolves

    Concord, NH - The Lady Seawolves struggled to generate offense in tonight's softball doubleheader against conference foe NHTI, dropping two contests to the Lady Lynx 0-2 in game one and 2-7 in game two.

    Durham, NH - The Lady Sewolves went on the road tonight to battle against the UNH lady Wildcats. UNH was able to score four runs in the first inning to put themselves on top 4-0 and they never looked back, ending the contest with a 10-4 victory.

    Bangor - This afternoon SMCC traveled to Bangor to battle conference rival Eastern Maine CC in double header action. Lady Seawolves Lindsey Howell (Limington, ME) and Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) combined for four of seven with two doubles, four runs and five RBI’s to help lift the team to a 9-4 win.

    South Portland – In the first game of today’s double header softball action the Lady Seawolves found themselves down 3-0 in the third inning to the Golden Eagles of EMCC, then Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) crushed a triple driving in shortstop Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) and jumpstarting the SMCC offense.
  • Lady Seawolves Drop to UNH

    South Portland –UNH’s Katie Steinmetz gave up only two hits and had four strikeouts in tonight’s shutout at SMCC as the Wildcats rolled to a 13-0 victory in five innings of play. Leading the way for the Wildcat offense was shortstop Megan Gibbons who went 4-4 at the plate with three singles, a double, three RBI’s and two runs.
  • St. Claire Gives Lady Seawolves Walk-off Win

    South Portland – SMCC trailed NHTI the entire game until a run by Lindsey St. Claire (Vassalboro, ME) at the bottom of the 6th inning knotted the score at 4-4. With the game at a deadlock in the bottom of the seventh inning St. Claire hit a walk-off single to bring in first baseman Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) and give the Lady Seawolves a 5-4 victory.

    South Portland – On September 3, 2013 the SMCC Softball team will begin “Softball September”, a series of instructional clinics held throughout the month of September at the SMCC campuses in South Portland and Brunswick
