SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split its non-conference doubleheader with Quincy College on Sunday, April 16.

Game 1 (5 innings): W, 21-0 | [BOX]

The Seawolves were quick starters and built a heavy lead to take care of the visitors in five innings.

Sophomore Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) put together his best performance of the year, collecting three hits in four trips, three runs, and three RBI. Sophomore Liam Cooledge (Westbrook, Maine) also managed a season-high three hits and three RBI. Sophomore Sam Keblinsky (Mount Desert Island, Maine) reached base in all four tries and came around to score every time.

Anthony Franco and Anthony Tilton collected the only hits for Quincy.

SMCC starter Logan Burt (Philadelphia, Penn.) was credited the win after four innings of work, striking out six and surrendering just two hits. Quincy threw four arms—starter Mitch Murphy took the loss.

Game 2: L, 7-8 | [BOX]

In a turnaround effort, Quincy took an early lead in game two and held it. The Seawolves strung together three runs in the sixth to close the deficit to one— SMCC was unable to convert a runner from second base in the seventh and split the day.

Sophomore Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) tallied his 12th multi-hit game of season going 2-4 from the dish; teammate Dylan Sellinger (Auburn, Maine) drove in two.

On the Quincy side, Jeidden Avila-Rosa produced three RBI and three runs and Mike Scibilio knocked in two himself from the lead-off spot.

SMCC's Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine) took the loss; Quincy's Anthony Franco tossed five complete innings to earn the win.

Head Coach Nic Lops expressed, "This weekend we did a nice job in the first game of each double header. Unfortunately, we came out flat in the second game of each. Our pitching continues to do its job, and our at-bats have been improving, but we need to cut way down on the miscues in the field. Defensive execution will need to be tightened up for this team to have success down the stretch."

The Seawolves stand 15-12 overall.
