AUBURN, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team defeated Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) rival Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 9-3 in a 9-inning showdown on Friday, April 28—the first of a three game set.

CMCC struck first pushing a run across in the bottom of the first inning. The Seawolves erupted for a bundle of four runs in the third and carried a 5-3 lead into the ninth inning. SMCC loaded the bases, and with one out, scored another four runs to pull away for good.

First-year Dylan Sellinger (Auburn, Maine) went 2-4 from the dish, knocked in two RBI and scored twice himself. Sophomore Sam Keblinsky (Mount Desert Island, Maine) collected two RBI, and sophomore Anthony Sayers (Benoni, South Africa) added a RBI and two runs.

Mustangs' Garren Post managed a double and a RBI in three trips to the plate.

SMCC ace Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Penn.) was handed the start and went the distance, allowing just five hits and striking out nine. His counterpart, Shane Sullivan struck out seven but took the loss.

The Seawolves jump to 18-15 overall, 6-1 in league play.
