GAME ONE:

SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball opened Saturday's doubleheader with a dominant 13-0 shutout over Quincy College in five innings at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Seawolves came out firing, scoring four runs in the first and repeating the feat in the second. They tacked on five more in the third to put the game out of reach.

Alex Bean (Westbrook, Maine) paced the offense, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Quinn Dillon(Gorham, Maine) added two hits, two RBIs, and scored three times, while Brady Wintle (Gorham, Maine) drove in three runs with a hit and a sacrifice fly.

Garrett McLeod (Winterport, Maine) earned his second win of the season, throwing four scoreless innings while striking out four and allowing just three hits. Aidan Dolan (Weymouth, Massachusetts) closed the door with a clean fifth, fanning two.

The Seawolves got on the board early again, scoring in each of the first five innings. Aaron Whitman (Bennington, Vermont) stayed locked in at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Maryland) had a breakout game, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, triple, RBI, and three runs scored.

Zach Oliver (Gloucester, Massachusetts) earned the win in his first start of the year, tossing 3.2 innings while allowing three runs and striking out two. Dante Tocci (Portland, Maine) came on in relief to secure the final nine outs and earn the save.
