GAME ONE:

SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball opened its doubleheader in historic fashion on Saturday afternoon, defeating the University of Maine at Augusta 10-0 behind a perfect game by Zach Oliver (Gloucester, Massachusetts) - the first known perfect game in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Oliver was untouchable on the mound, facing the minimum 18 batters across six innings, striking out two and inducing a mix of groundouts and flyouts to record the flawless outing. Oliver delivered the program's first known perfect game.

Offensively, SMCC broke things open late, plating four runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth. Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) tallied four RBIs, while Alex Bean (Westbrook, Maine) reached base twice and scored a run. Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Maryland) added a key triple and three RBIs in the fifth.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In Game Two, SMCC used another strong offensive showing to complete the sweep with a 13-10 win. The Seawolves surged for nine runs in the first three innings and added insurance late to hold off a UMA comeback effort.

Aaron Whitman (Bennington, Vermont) led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Adam Rowland (Okotoks, Alberta, Canada) delivered a 3-for-4 effort with a double and an RBI, while Dillon and Oliver combined for three RBIs in the middle of the order.

On the mound, Aaron Whitman also earned the win in relief, tossing 3.1 innings with two strikeouts and one walk. Dante Tocci came in to record the final five outs and preserve the win.
