LOUDON, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf team placed third in its first countable match at Loudon Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Non-conference opponent New England College (NEC) turned in a 358 team total to win the match followed by Great Bay Community College's (GBCC) 360, and SMCC's 361. The host NHTI tallied a 405 and the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) participated with too few players to qualify for team scoring.

NEC's Tim Carlson recorded the field's individual low at 75; two strokes better than NHTI's Nate Stevens. GBCC's Jackson Strayer medaled third posting an 85 round.

First-year Albert Doughty IV (Gray-New Gloucester, Maine) and sophomore Samuel Winslow (Hopkinton, Maine) led the way for the SeaWolves both shooting an 88. First-year Zach Tremblay (Gilledgeville, Ga.) recorded a 90; first-years Brian Perrault (Biddeford, Maine) and Henry Westphal (Portland, Maine) rounded out scoring with a 95 and 96.

Head Coach AJ Burton commented, "I thought out team did a great job representing themselves on the course in character and steady play at our first official match of the season. The overall feedback from the players has us excited for a back-to-back performance this weekend—and the adjustments to be made when we get our second look at Loudon."

The action continues when the SeaWolves travel back to Loudon Country Club next Saturday, Sept. ahead of tee times at Montague Golf Club in Randolph, Vt. on Sunday, Sept. 12.
