OAKLAND, Maine— In an intense and closely contested golf tournament at Waterville Country Club, the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's golf team emerged victorious with a total team score of 319, narrowly taking yet another victory – the team's third of the year.
The Seawolves' victory was driven by standout performances, one by their top golfer Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) shooting a 75. The rest of the team was close behind— Owen Lee (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) fired an 80, Matthew Quigley (Benton, Maine) and Asa Buteau (Scarborough, Maine) added a pair of 82s as Alexander Watts (Saco, Maine) rounded out the scoring for the Seawolves with a 96. These consistent rounds helped SMCC secure the win despite the pressure of the tight competition.
The University of Maine at Farmington kept things close throughout, but the Seawolves' overall depth and strong performance ultimately sealed the two stroke tournament victory
Men's golf will hope to keep the winning streak alive this weekend with an away match against at the Central Maine Community College Invitational on Saturday and their home tournament on Sunday in Cape Elizabeth.
